Head Tennis Pro Roy Barth

Roy Barth, Director of Tennis - Roy Barth has been Director of Tennis at Kiawah Island Golf Resort for over 25 years. Roy has an outstanding tennis background as a player, coach, and teacher. He was ranked as high as eighth in the nation in men's singles, second in men's doubles, and reached the Top 50 in the world as a professional player.

His coaching experience includes Assistant Varsity Coach at UCLA, coach of the United States Wightman Cup Team, and coach of the winning Southern Boys 18 and under Intersectional Team.

Most recently he had the honor of serving on the USA Italia Cup Team. He is the past president of the South Carolina Tennis Association and is a member of both the USPTA and USPTR teaching pro associates. In 1990, he was named the USPTR Pro of the Year.

Roy was inducted into the South Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame in December of 1997 and the Southern Tennis Hall of Fame in January 1999. Roy served as the Vice-Chairman for the U.S. Davis Cup committee for the USTA from 1999-2002.

Jonathan BarthJonathan Barth

Jonathan is from Charleston, South Carolina. He was a top ranked junior player in South Carolina and played college tennis at the College of Charleston. Jonathan and his wife, Meredith have won two USTA National Husband/Wife Indoor titles in 2005 and 2006 during which they were ranked #1 and #2 nationally. Jonathan and his father, Roy were ranked #5 in the United States in the Father/Son division in 2002 and reached the semis of the USTA National Father/Son Clay Court Championships in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2006. Jonathan is a member of the Wilson Advisory Staff and the K-Swiss Advisory Staff and is a certified teaching professional by the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR). Jonathan has been with the Kiawah Island Golf Resort since 1993.

David is from Atlanta, Georgia where he was a highly ranked junior player. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1992 where he was a walk-on making the 1988 Men's Tennis Team. He is a member of the Prince Pro Team, K-Swiss Advisory Staff, and is a certified tennis professional by the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR). David has been with the Kiawah Island Golf Resort since 1998.
