This event is a refreshing way to take a break and enjoy meeting others as well as exploring The Sanctuary and Kiawah Island. Learn from experienced speakers on a variety of topics, and have time to indulge in our Five Star Spa. Proceeds of the event will benefit the Charleston Center for Women.

Speaker Biographies
Justina Lasley, M.A.
Justina is the Founder and Director of the Institute for Dream Studies in Charleston, South Carolina. She is an author and leading dream specialist who enjoys working with individuals and groups to unlock the wisdom of their unconscious. Justina shares with clients her enthusiasm, keen insight, and talent for relating to others, facilitating rapid movement toward a more authentic, spiritual, and fulfilling life. She is a lecturer, a trainer for dreamworkers, a leader of individual and group dreamwork and a facilitator of workshops. Justina’s studies and her experiences in creative arts add depth and imagination to the exploration of dream imagery and metaphor. Her years of experience as a teacher enhance her capabilities as an instructor and enable her to assist individuals on their path to personal and spiritual growth.
Justina earned her Master’s degree in Transpersonal Psychology with an emphasis in Dreams at the University of West Georgia, and has a B.A. in both Applied Art and Education from Converse College. She also studied at the University of Paris and with many well-known authors and dream specialists. Justina has been conducting dream groups and/or workshops for nearly 20 years. She has written two books, Honoring the Dream: A Handbook for Dream Group Leaders and In My Dream..., a unique dream journal to capture and record dreams, thoughts, and sketches.
Danielle Kovach Gilbert
Danielle is a certified feng shui consultant and a licensed architect. Since she was a child, she has been interested in the manipulation of space and the creation of place. Danielle discovered feng shui just after she earned her degree in Architecture. It was a perfect match. Combining her creativity and intuition with the tools of feng shui, she helps her clients create a home or office which increases their quality of life and wellbeing.
Danielle holds a Bachelors of Architecture in Architecture and a Bachelors of Art in Environmental Design. She received her certification as a feng shui consultant through the China Studies program - including a feng shui immersion field study course in China. Danielle practices feng shui throughout the Southeast region and the east coast. She is also available for lectures and workshops.
Beth Webb Hart, Author
Beth Webb Hart, a South Carolina native, holds a B.A. in English Literature from Hollins College and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Sarah Lawrence College. Her first novel, Grace at Low Tide, was one of three finalists for the 2006 Christy Awards in the general/contemporary/fiction category. Her second novel, Adelaide Piper, was selected for Books-a-Million's book club and for their national book of the month for December, 2006. Both titles were included in the “Top 10 Inspirational Novels of 2006" by Booklist, the American Library Association's review journal. Her third novel, The Wedding Machine, became a best-seller in August of 2008.
Hart serves on the faculty of the South Carolina Writers Workshop and lectures on the craft of fiction writing throughout the region. She has taught on the college, high school and intermediate level where she received two national awards from Scholastic, Inc. She currently serves as the writer-in-residence at Ashley Hall.

Archie Burkel
Archie Burkel is a Lady who has worn many hats. She moved to Charleston eleven years ago, following successful careers as a Guidance Counselor in Chicago and Volunteer Coordinator for President Carter in Atlanta. The attention she garnered wearing her hats down our historic streets inspired her to create The Hat Ladies… an Organization open to women of all ages who love hats of all colors and wear them in a spirit of camaraderie and community service. www.hatladies.org
Archie and The Hat Ladies are well known as the premier hat Organization in Charleston. They are frequently featured in both local and national newspaper and magazine articles, and on radio and television programs. She has received many personal honors as well, among them: Winner of The Charleston Regional Business Journal's Influential Women in Business Award; nominee for The Jefferson Award for public and community service; chosen as one of ten women of the year by Skirt! Magazine; appeared on NBC Today Show, "American The Beautiful," Charleston, SC.
But there is another area that is also the object of her passion and creativity: Memoir Writing. The same eleven years ago, she began writing her own memoirs. She quickly realized her format would benefit others. She shares it with you today, with the hope you will indeed find it helpful and decide you can do it…well… at the drop of a hat.
Jennet Robinson Alterman
Jennet Robinson Alterman is a native of Charleston and currently serves as the Executive Director of the Center for Women. She is the daughter of Emmett and Patricia Robinson. Ms. Alterman has worked in television broadcasting, state and federal government and the non-profit sector. She has an extensive background in international development having served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Afghanistan, Peace Corps Country Director in Swaziland and the Interagency Coordinator for Peace Corps worldwide. During her tenure on Peace Corps staff she worked on projects in over 40 countries. She was responsible for the development and ongoing support of Peace Corps worldwide programs including: Micro-Enterprise Development, Women in Development and Environmental Education.
In 2001 she accepted the position with the Center for Women, a women’s development center established in 1990. The Center for women conducted 80 programs in 2008 and reached over 6000 women in the Lowcountry. In 2005 the Center received the Award for Excellence in Non-Profit Management from the S.C. Association of Non-Profit Organizations. In February 2006 the Center was recognized by Oprah Winfrey with an Oprah’s Angel Network Grant and the Family Circle Cup Tennis Tournament chose the Center for Women as their official charity of choice for the fourth year in 2009. The Center has also been honored this year with Metro Chamber of Commerce 1773 awrd for the Public/Non-Profit Sector and People Against Rape’s Outstanding Victim Service Program.
Ms. Alterman also serves on the Spaulding Paolozzi Foundation Board of Directors, the Board of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, the Board of the Trident Urban league, the Regional Advisory Board of the Leadership Institute of Columbia College, the Advisory Council of Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding, the Advisory Board of the Junior League and the Advisory Council of the Lowcountry Graduate Center. In 2003 she was recognized as a Woman of Distinction by the Carolina Lowcountry Girl Scouts and in 2004. In December 2008 Ms. Alterman gave the College of Charleston commencement address and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters. She is married to noted photographer Jack Alterman.
Margaret Seidler, Author
Margaret Seidler, a nationally-recognized speaker, an organization development consultant, master trainer and author. Her interest in helping other professionals become more effective leaders began in the early 1990s, when she recognized the need to improve her own leadership skills. Her consulting practice focuses on creating higher organization performance by helping people manage the complexities of organizational life through self-awareness and self-management. Since returning to her hometown of Charleston in 2001, she has published numerous articles and presented nationally at numerous trade conferences.
Margaret holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of South Carolina. Her first book, Power Surge: A Conduit for Enlightened Leadership, was released in November by Human Resource Development (HRD) Press of Amherst, Massachusetts. At her new web site, she holds online chats for readers during the month to support their growth in living more effective, balanced lives – both at work and home.
