Teen and Youth Activities are a great way to experience Kiawah and to meet new friends. Activities are held throughout the summer and during all major holidays.

All events take place at Night Heron Park, unless otherwise noted. Youth programs are designed for ages 7-12. Teen programs are designed for ages 13-18. Recreation staff is present, however, youth and teens are not individually supervised. Please note that the following schedule is subject to change. Call (843) 768-6001 for more information.

New for 2016!

Full day Kiawah Adventure Camp available for ages 8-14. Campers will explore Kiawah while enjoying a traditional summer camp experience, designed to get tweens and early teens unplugged and exploring! Campers will do crafts, skits, and swim in our water park, in addition to archery, orienteering, scavanger hunts, beach combing, kayaking, cast netting, and more! Advanced reservations are required. 4 Camper minimum. Campers will be transported to other locations on the island, an additionalwaiver for transportation is required.

Monday

Spend the morning in the waterpark, crafting, and practicing your archery skills. The afternoon will be spent learning to cast net and kayak with our Naturalists.

Wednesday

Hit up the waterpark in the morning, play a game of Angry, Angry Alligator, work on a traditional friendship bracelet or plastic lanyard, and spend the afternoon at Mingo Point with our Naturalists learning to cast net and kayak in the salt marsh.

Friday

Start the day with a game of Capture the Flag, make your own story stones and use them for a skit, try your hand at water balloon launching, visit the waterpark, and end the day with our Naturalists exploring the salt marsh with kayaks and cast nets.

Night Out at the Ball Game, Select Dates for Ages 9-16. Enjoy a night out with our staff to enjoy one of Charleston's resident Professional sports teams- the Riverdogs or the Battery. Night out will include game tickets and dinner at the stadium. Extra concessions or souvenirs may be purchased individually. We will maintain a 6:1 ratio for this event.Event will leave from and return to Night Heron Park. $65 per person. Advanced reservations are required, space is limited. Trip minimum is 4 participants with a maximum of 12.

Sports and Recreation

Admission complimentary, Reservations not required. Offerings are seasonal, please call (843)768-6001 for availability. Recreation staff is present; however, youth and teens are not individually supervised. During teen events, please make necessary arrangements for transportation. Night Heron Park closes at 11pm.

Come ready to dodge and shoot while mixing it up with other kids on the island! Meet at Night Heron Park stage.

Youth: 3 on 3 Basketball

Come with a team or solo to make some friends. Teams will be divided into age brackets: 7-9 & 10-12. Winning teams of the tournament will receive a prize. Meet at the Night Heron Park Basketball Court.

Teen Night: 3 on 3 Basketball

In this tournament, teams will be divided into age brackets: 13-15 & 16-18. Tournament champions will receive a prize. Meet at the Night Heron Park Basketball Court.

Teen Night: Ping Pong Tournament

Bring your best table tennis skills for this teens only tournament! Meets at the Night Heron Stage.

 

Teen Outdoor Adventures

Adults must be present to sign kids in and out, before and after the trip. All Nature Tours have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Offerings are seasonal, call the Nature Center at (843)768-6001 for availability and reservations.Recommended ages 13-15, no adults allowed! Adults must sign their child in and out when dropped off and picked up.

Get Lost!

Test your navigation skills and embark on a scavenger hunt on Kiawah Island by bicycle. Learn the techniques of using a compass and map, and combining those to find your way to secret island locations. Naturalists will accompany you while you explore the island by bicycle to find clues leading to each checkpoint.
$30/person. 2 person minimum. Duration: 2 hours Does NOT include bike rental.

Teen Kayaking

Time for the kids to get out and have an adventure of their own. After some quick tips, it’s time to jump in your own kayak and have some fun on the water. From races in the river to some fun in the mud, you’re sure to make some new friends on this trip!
Seasonal. $55/teen; $50 for KIGR guests and KICA members, 2 person minimum. Duration: 2 hours

Teen Paddleboarding

SUP!? Take the plunge and become a part of the fastest growing water sport on the East Coast. Hand stands, balancing tricks and team paddling are just a few of the fun activities to do on paddleboards while enjoying the view of the salt marsh.
Seasonal. $45/teen; $40/ KIGR & KICA Teens. 2 person minimum. Duration: 1.5 hours
