Marathon Race Victory Bash
December 11, 2010, 6pm - 10 pm

Think Marathon festivities are over after the race? Think again! Music, entertainment, fine foods and company at The Sanctuary.  Our Post-Race Lowcountry Bash is held at the Grand Oaks Ballroom from 6pm - 10pm.

Reservations are required and are non-refundable. Space is limited. On-line reservations begin August 1st when race registration opens. For more information, please contact Leisure Services at 843.768.6253. 

A bountiful buffet of dishes made with fresh local ingredients is sure to recharge racers and their support crew.  The evening’s menu will include traditional favorites such as: A build your own salad and baked potato bar, Penne pasta salad, Local Butternut Squash soup, Carved ham, Carved roasted turkey, Vegetarian risotto with local mushrooms and herb crusted local seasonal vegetables. Finish your meal with a selection from our sweet array of desserts.  Apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream, Key Lime tarts, Chocolate pecan tarts, Pumpkin tarts and Victory cup cakes.

Results:

Half Marathon results will be posted at the Town Center Mall and the Full Marathon results will be posted at the East Beach Conference Center as soon as they become available on race day.  Results will also be posted on http://www.kiawahresort.com/recreation/marathon/ and http://www.rmssports.com/.

Post Race Parties and Award Ceremonies: 

There will be a fantastic post race party featuring a carbo re-load buffet, music and beer. New for 2009: With a valid form of identification, family and friends can join in celebrating with unlimited beer with the purchase of a $5 wristband during the Half-Marathon Post-Race Party.

Half-marathon runners: From 9:30 am until 12 pm all half-marathon runners are invited to the Town Center Mall for food and beverage service, please keep race number visible for entry.  Awards for the half-marathon runners will take place at approximately 11:30 am on the stage.

Full-marathon runners: All full-marathon runners displaying race numbers are invited to join the Post Race Party inside East Beach Conference Center from 10:00 am until 2:30 pm. Governor’s Hall will be restricted to full-marathon runners only until the awards ceremony begins at approximately 1:30 pm.

Lost & Found

Please check the information/t-shirt pick-up desk in the lobby of the East Beach Conference Center for articles lost in and around the East Beach Conference Center/race start.  For articles lost or left on the course, please note our course clean up begins during the race.  Such course items will be brought to the Heron Park Nature Center at Night Heron Park. Runners can claim their race course items beginning 8:45 am Sunday, December 13th. Call 843.768.6001 for information. 

Showers

Night Heron Park's outdoor pool bathroom facilities will be open for those who would like to use the showers.

Retail

The East Beach Conference Center retail booths and restrooms will be open to all runners and spectators throughout the day.

Marathon Medals and Certificates

All Full & Half Marathon Runners finishing the 26.2  & 13.1-mile course, respectively will receive a commemorative medal at the finish line.  Full marathon finishing certificates can be accessed on http://www.kiawahresort.com/recreation/marathon/  in mid January 2010.

Boston Qualifications

The Kiawah Island Marathon is sanctioned by the USATF and listed as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.  Official marathon results will be mailed shortly following the event to the Boston Athletic Association.  Runners applying for the Boston Marathon need only list their time and participation in this event for potential qualification.
