Once registered, based on availability, you have the option to change from one race to another.

December 11 and December 12: $45 change fee, in person at On Island Packet Pick-up.
Race Day: No race registration and no changes allowed.
Deferment 2013 to 2014
If you were a registered runner for the 2013 marathon or half marathon and have a valid deferred status, contact the race office at Kiawah_Marathon@KiawahResort.com early 2014. Entry to 2014 is not automatic. Every runner must sign a 2014 Liability Waiver and pay the 2014 administrative fee by October 31, 2014. If you have questions, please contact the marathon office at Kiawah_Marathon@KiawahResort.com, please include your full name and birth date. .
Deferment 2014 to 2015
In order to be eligible for deferral to 2015, runners must use the online deferral link BEFORE RACE DAY (before Saturday, December 13th, 2014). Keep in mind - Runners may EITHER choose a deferment OR pick up packet. Runners that defer may not pick up their bib and t-shirt for 2014 race. The deferments are only valid for 1 year - the year proceeding the date of original race registration.
Marathon/Half Marathon Runners that are in a 2014 deferral status are not automatically registered for the succeeding year. Runners must email the race at Kiawah_Marathon@KiawahResort.com after January 31, 2015 to begin the 2015 process. Upon receipt of your email, the marathon office will email you a deferral code and special race link to complete the 2014 online liability waiver and update personal information. There is a $45.00 administrative fee per each deferral.
If you are eligible to defer, please do not register online! We are not able to offer refunds when a runner is eligible for a deferral code but registers on their own. All runners who are eligible to defer are guaranteed entry into the succeeding race as long as they have followed the directions above, completed the online liability waiver and paid the admin fee by July 31, 2015.
Early Bird Packet Pick-up is being done as a convenience to our local runners. Any runner is able to participate in the Early Bird Pick-up; however, you must register to run before midnight on Monday, November 17th. RSVP must be received by Wednesday, December 3rd.

Coordinated with this year’s packet pick-up, the Kiawah Island Golf Resort Marathon is excited to announce the Kiawah Island Marathon Race Expo. Vendors with sports apparel, health and wellness products, and services will be stationed inside Kiawah’s East Beach Conference Center.
Pick up some last-minute race necessities and be sure to visit the Kiawah Island Golf Resort Official Merchandise Store. The Expo is FREE and open to the Public. If you are interested in becoming a race sponsor or vendor, please email us at RaceSponsor@KiawahResort.com.
Off Island Runners
All runners staying off-island are urged to arrive NO LATER THAN 6:30 AM TO AVOID MISSING THE 8 AM RACE START. You will be directed to parking areas outside the front gate and shuttled to the race start via motor coach. Shuttle busses will begin at 5:30 am.
On Island Runners
West Beach Villas: Runners staying in West Beach are advised to use the provided shuttle service. Beginning at 6am until race start, the shuttle will depart every 15 minutes from the Straw Market. If you wish to drive your car to the race venue, parking is available at the soccer fields at Night Heron Park, from which it is an easy walk to the race start via the bike path.
East Beach Villas: Runners staying in the East Beach (Tennis Club, Turtle Point, Turtle Cove, Turtle Beach, Maritime) villas are advised to walk to the race start.
If you wish to drive your car to the race venue, parking is available at the soccer fields at Night Heron Park, from which it is an easy walk to the race start via the bike path.
Night Heron Park Villas: Runners staying in the vicinity of Night Heron Park (Night Heron Cottages, Mariners Watch and Windswept) villas are advised to walk to the race start or use the provided shuttle service. Beginning at 6am until race start, the shuttle will depart every 15 minutes from the 3-way stop on Sea Forest Drive at the entrance to Mariners Watch Villas .
Vanderhorst gate and beyond: Guests staying past the Vanderhorst Gate may park in the soccer fields at Night Heron Park, from which it is an easy walk to the race start via the bike path.
We are using the B-tag timing device, the "chip" is attached to your bib. The B-tag requires no additional application, you simply use the supplied safety pins to attached the bib to the clothing. When crossing the mats at the start line, finish line and throughout the course, it is important to have the bib on the outside of your clothing. In addition, we ask that you refrain from folding or wrinkling your bibs before the race.
Before the race, please fill out the medical information on the back of your bib. Sharpies will be available at Packet Pick-up inside the East Beach Conference Center.

A holding tent for personal articles will be located behind the finish line.
Please note this tent is unsupervised. Please refrain from leaving any valuables in article storage or on the course. This year's race will include drop zones for items while on the course. Any personal items and trash should be dropped only in these drop zones located after each water station. Our excellent course clean up crew will be collecting all personal items discarded on the course. These items can be picked up, if retrieved, at the Heron Park Nature Center at 8:45am on Sunday of Race Weekend.
Friday, December 12th, 2:30pm - 4:30pm
Get a leg up on the competition by previewing the Kiawah Island Golf Resort Marathon race course! Join our Lead Cyclists before the race and ride the half marathon (first 11.5 miles of the full). Don't miss this exclusive chance to see the new course layout and starting line or enjoy yourself before the big day! Familiarize yourself with the water station layouts and select beautiful landmarks to help you keep pace on race day. The Pre-Race Bike Ride isn't just for race participants; family and friends shouldn't miss this opportunity to stake out cheering spots before the race begins. Additionally, most of our race course is located within a private community and is only accessible to previewing by foot or bike. The tour costs $20 per person. Complimentary bicycle included; however, participants are welcome to bring their own.
