Family Activities at Kiawah

Fun for the whole family! All activities take place at the Night Heron Park. No reservations necessary unless otherwise noted.

Disc Golf at Kiawah Island

Disc Golf at Night Heron Park!

Visit Night Heron Park to check out our 9 hole Disc Golf course! Fun for the whole family, stop inside the Nature Center to rent discs and head out to the first tee to give the course a try. If you want to learn a little more about the sport, or some basic skills to play, our experienced staff also gives lessons! We will teach you numerous throw techniques and some strategy to master our course. Call the Nature Center for more information or to sign up at (843) 768-6001 or ext. 86001. Ages 6 and up recommended.

 

Crafts

Stepping Stones Tye-Dye Stuffed Animal Factory Survival Bracelets

Stepping Stones

A staple craft in all Kiawah family vacations! Create and design a long-lasting lawn or garden decoration by picking out a concrete mold and using recycled sea glass, seashells and other gems to make your stone unique. Stepping Stones take up to 24 hours to dry before they are able to be taken home. $13 - $15

Stuffed Animal Factory

Choose, stuff and dress-up your own furry friend to remind you of your time spent at the beach. A great companion for long car rides or flights home! $20+

Survival Bracelets

Pick from our neon colors of Parachute cord and have one of our staff members instruct you on how to make your own survival bracelet. Unravel your bracelet in a time of need and have 8 feet of cord at your fingertips! $15

Tye Dye

Create a traditional Kiawah logo Tye-Dye T-shirt! Choose from any of our bright, rainbow spectrum colors to make your shirt unique. $15

Families are welcome to stop by for pick-up games every afternoon. Games will take place in Night Heron Park. This time frame serves as a way to gather participants to a certain activity for a casual pick-up game. No supervision will be provided. Volleyballs, basketballs and soccer balls available at the Nature Center. Complimentary.

GPS Island Hunt

 

SUMMER: June 3 - August 8
Wednesdays & Fridays
Beginner (~5 miles): 9am
Advanced (~ 8 miles): 10am

Do you want to experience the beauty and tranquility of Kiawah Island, but are not sure where to go? Come to the Nature Center to rent a handheld GPS system and explore some of our favorite locations around the island. The hunt is designed to take you to unique locations where clues are hidden, eventually leading you to a locked treasure chest. This is an unsupervised activity that requires bikes due to the distances between each location. Reservations are required, $25/GPS. Bike rentals not included. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Kiawah Island Book Exchange

Monday - Friday, 9am - 6pm
Need a good book while you relax on the island? Come to Night Heron Pavilion Complex and review your green, used book library. All books are at least 50% off their cover price. You can bring your old books, too! If you bring in a book of your own to donate to our library, you can purchase another for an additional 50% discount! Book genres range from: Fun Beach Reads, Local Based Novels, Suspense/Horror/Thriller, Children/Youth, Teen/Young Adult, Memiors/Short Stories/Poems, Popular by Author, and Romance.
