| Kiawah Island Real Estate and KICA are pleased sponsor of the debut presentation of The Curious Mr. Catesby, December 28, 6pm in the Grand Oaks Ballroom in The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. 100 years before Audubon, English naturalist, Mark Catesby, explored the southeast colonies . This film documents his life's work and captures beautiful footage of the creatures he encountered during that exploration and examines how they flourish today on Kiawah Island and other Lowcountry habitats. Catesby’s “Natural History of Carolina, Florida and the Bahama Islands”, is described by a contemporary as “the most magnificent work I know since the Art of printing was discovered”. It is seen today as the most important scientific and artist accomplishment relative to North America prior to the American Revolution. |
