Tomasso at Turtle Point is proud to announce Sara Carpenter as their new General Manager. For those of you who frequent our island restaurants, Sara is most likely going to be a familiar face, as she has held numerous food and beverage positions throughout the resort. Starting her career at Kiawah as a bartender at The Ocean Room, then moving to Supervisor at Tomasso and soon thereafter being promoted to Assistant Manager of The Atlantic Room and Ryder Cup Bar, Sara is now stepping into the role to oversee all food and beverage operations at the Turtle Point Clubhouse.
Her experience with our company goes even further back to her service at our sister property, The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Virginia where she worked as a server and bartender.
Sara is eager to begin her new position, “Although I will miss the staff and all of the “action” out at The Ocean Course, I’m excited to utilize the knowledge that I gained there at Tomasso; we have plenty of room to grow (and a lot of space to utilize) at Turtle Point.” She is already making plans and has ideas for the continued success, former Manager, Michael Blake has brought to Tomasso.
Sara is certified in the Introductory Sommelier Course and will continue to pursue additional levels of certification in this important area. Her passion for wine knowledge and her BBA in Marketing (as well as a BFA in Graphic Design) will help her as she assumes her duties at Turtle Point. “I’m hoping to gain more exposure to local residents and resort guests, as well as host more private events, especially golf group functions, corporate outings, rehearsal dinners and weddings, and of course, wine dinners.”
And speaking of wine dinners, our Kiawah Beverage Series is held at Tomasso this month! Chef Jonathan Williams has partnered with Sara to prepare a five-course wine dinner menu featuring the wines and foods of the Piedmont region of Italy, ones of the greatest wine-growing regions in the country. Piedmont is famous for rich dishes featuring truffles, cream sauces and hazelnuts which have inspired Chef’s menu.
