Tomasso Celebrates 5 Years on Kiawah!

Tomasso at Turtle Point celebrated their 5 year anniversary on Kiawah Island this past week – and what a 5 years it has been!  Since its inception in February of 2009, Tomasso has grown to be an island favorite among families, couples, owners, and guests alike.  Upon arriving at the Turtle Point Clubhouse, the true Italian-style family hospitality by which Tomasso prides itself on is introduced.  Before the menu is presented and your first glass of wine is poured, the music of Italy surrounds you.  The faint smell of house made breads, savory spices, and fresh herbs that drift from the kitchen spark your senses, and the candle lit tables create a warm, inviting atmosphere.  Tomasso is an Italian Gathering Place that is truly one of a kind.

Nestled behind the 18th green of Turtle Point, Chef Jonathan Williams and his culinary team have designed a menu based on authentic Italian cuisine from all regions of Italy.  Italy is made up of twenty very flavorful regions and the richness of Italian cuisine lies in its diversity.  Every town and village will create the same dish but in vastly different ways, and with this, Tomasso encompasses their own unique twist on Italian fare.  Chef Williams relies on the quality of ingredients; growing produce in Tomasso’s garden right outside of the Clubhouse and supporting local farmers is the best way to provide the ‘Farm to Table’ quality of dining.  Chef’s creative energy and enthusiastic approach have aided with the continued improvements to the menu, you can tell just by looking at each seasonal menu that Williams is passionate about food.

Within the last five years, Tomasso has undergone some major renovations.  With a new management team (both front and back of house) stepping in about a year ago, new uniforms for staff in the lounge and dining room, new carpeting in the dining room, and new gold-colored placements, Tomasso’s facelift has excited returning visitors!  On February 11, Tomasso hosted a culinary anniversary celebration with a Prosecco toast to the restaurant and bar, paired with a complimentary dessert station for all guests.
