Mic check one, two… one, two! Brandon Lapp did a quick check of his microphone before stepping onto ‘stage’ at the Carolina Green Fair for The Ocean Room’s Food Demo at James Island County Park.
The Ocean Room and Kiawah Island Golf Resort joined in the festivities on Sunday, September 22nd as Charleston celebrated the annual Carolina Green Fair and appropriately with the weather which was given for the day, the first day of Autumn.
Set for a 4pm food demo, The Ocean Room had visitors sit in and witness Brandon and Sous Chef (of the day) Scott prepare a delicious grouper dish while learning the importance of utilizing Charleston’s sustainable resources..
The dish included rye polenta, honey glazed carrots, spiced pecans and of course grouper. As shown above, Brandon and Scott walked the crowd through a step by step process in building this beautiful and tasty meal.
With the goal of continuing to find new ways to keep Charleston green attendees at the Fair learned about different ways to pitch in while enjoying great food, live music, cold beverages and games/activities. The Carolina Green Fair was established in 2008 and upholds its mission to create excitement and enthusiasm for green products, services and technologies available to residents of Charleston with a fun and festive atmosphere for all ages. Sponsors such as Subaru, Savannah Bee Company, New Belgium, Food Waste Forward, Charleston Animal Society, Charleston City Paper, MUSC… and many, many more are what make this event and efforts possible.
