At Kiawah Island Golf Resort, Thanksgiving is one of the busiest holidays. Whether you’re enjoying Family Sand Sculpting, Fall Festival, Kamp Kiawah and of course the Thanksgiving Feasts, there’s always something going on! But for Thanksgiving at Kiawah, one of the longest traditions is the Turkey Trot; a run/walk on the Kiawah Island Beach. Running on the beautiful beaches of Kiawah is the perfect way to start the day. Everyone knows there is no better feeling than waking up early and burning off some calories, especially when you know you’re going to eat a ton of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, squash and pie for desert.
The Kiawah Turkey Trot offers a one mile walk or three mile run on the beach for families, beginners, and competitive runners. For those competitive runners, you will only have two more weeks after the Turkey Trot to get ready for the Kiawah Island Marathon (yes! Registration is open) so keep training!
Registration for the Turkey Trot is complimentary; it begins at 9:00 am Thanksgiving morning by the Straw Market beach access (Boardwalk 5). The race will start promptly at 9:30 am. All participants will receive a Kiawah Island logo prize as well as a raffle ticket for a prize drawing that is held at 10:15 am at the start/finish line. With the 34th running of the Kiawah Island Golf Resort Marathon on December 10th, a fun run is just what the doctor ordered.
